Moscow subway is world-famous by its spacious stations decorated with mosaics, marble, labrodorite, rhodonite, chandeliers, stained-glass panels and statues. The construction of Moscow metro started back in Soviet times, in the first half of the 20th century. Designed to impress ordinary people, Moscow subway stations have developed a reputation of underground palaces.
You will learn about the construction of the metro, visit the most beautiful stations, some of which were awarded prizes at international festivals.
Among the stations to visit during the tour there is "Mayakovskaya" metro station. It is designed in art deco style and reinforced with stainless steel columns. There are marvelous mosaics on the ceiling called "One Day of the Soviet Union". Another station of interest is "Revolution Square" with its unusual sculptures. One of them is supposed to bring good luck, so get ready to rub some bronze! We will also explore a number of stations of the Koltsevaya (Circular) Line - among them is "Komsomolskaya" station made in baroque style, featuring huge mosaics dedicated to different Russian historic events, "Belorusskaya" station which decoration is really aged with Belarusian national culture and "Novoslobodskaya" that features beautiful stained glass panels.
